2023 NAWIC VIC CEO SHADOW PROGRAM

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The NAWIC CEO Shadow Program is a unique industry program providing NAWIC members with the opportunity to spend a day shadowing a senior industry leader (CEO). The aim is to present opportunities for participants, whilst respecting the time limitations that a participant may be able to commit to the Program.

The desired outcome for the CEO Shadow Program aligns with NAWIC’s goals to, but not limited to:

  • Raise the profile of women in the construction industry
  • Develop careers and leaders,
  • Develop networks, share knowledge and experience, and
  • To champion and empower women

 

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

The NAWIC CEO Shadow program is approximately 1 month in duration. Program participants are provided with an information pack to assist them to meet and develop their individual objectives through working together.

It offers the NAWIC members the opportunity to networks with elite Senior Industry Leaders to gain an understanding of a typical day in their shoes. To provides a unique networking opportunity and professional exposure.

The program includes:

  • Program Launch

Set in a relaxed setting, this sit-down breakfast event allows Senior Industry Leaders and Shadows an opportunity to get to know each other outside the usual business setting.

  • Facilitated Lunch-and-Learn

A facilitated lunch-and-learn workshops will provide the tools necessary to help the Shadows to set goals for outcomes they hope to achieve from the Program.

  • Shadow Day

There is no set format to the actual Shadow Day. The intention is that the Shadow will spend the day with the CEO, throughout the day to gain an appreciation of the activities, meetings, issues, problems faced on an “average” day by someone in a senior position in a company.

  • Closing Function

Formal closure of the CEO Shadow Program, with a facilitated lessons learnt for Shadows immediately prior, reflection on learnings and celebration of accomplishments.

 

PROGRAM SELECTION PROCESS

Participants (Shadows) will be selected with a ‘best in class’ approach where all applicants will be assessed, and the most suitable candidate for each position will be selected.

  • Applicant will complete and submit an online application form
  • Program coordinators will review applicants and shortlist (if required); and
  • Interviews with Program Co-ordinators will take place with shortlisted applicants. 

Further submissions may be required to portray applicant’s goals, achievements, career planning and progression aspirations

 

PARTICIPANTION REQUIREMENTS

PARTICIPANT CODE OF CONDUCT

All participants are expected to always maintain the upmost professionalism throughout the Program. Participants are expected to respect Program events, workplaces, work practices and the confidentiality of information during the course of the Program and thereafter.

All applications are assessed individually, and Shadows and Senior Leaders are paired accordingly based on their experiences, strength, and desired objectives. The Education Committee will assess all applications and shortlist successful submissions. Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application once the selection process is completed.

 

2023 KEY DATES

  • Applications Close: 6th August 2023
  • Candidate Interviews: 7th – 18th August
  • Notification of Successful Participants: 25th August 202
  • Program Launch: 4th September 2023
  • Closing Function: 16th October 2023
